class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">DNA<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0simply means Deoxyribonucleic Acid. It is a hereditary molecule found in almost all living things (cells). DNA carries a code (information) that genes use to make living things grow. It is found in all cells in structures called chromosomes.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">DNA is located in the nucleus of cells. This is called nuclear DNA. Some DNA is also located in the mitochondria of the cell and that is also called mitochondrial DNA. All the cells in that living thing carry the same DNA.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">There are 4 chemical bases that make up the code in DNA.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">These chemical bases are<\/span><\/p><ul><li><b><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Adenine (A)<\/span><\/b><\/li><li><b><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Guanine (G)<\/span><\/b><\/li><li><b><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cytosine (C)<\/span><\/b><\/li><li><b><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Thymine (T)<\/span><\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">These chemical bases are contained in the shape of a twisted ladder called <b><i>The Double Helix.<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10836\" src=\"https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/dna.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/dna.jpg 700w, https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/dna-300x107.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/dna-600x214.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>In humans, all the bases are the same \u2014 BUT, the combination or order, or sequence is unique to every individual.<\/span><\/p><p><b><i><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Think of it this way:<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p><p><b><i><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">All telephone numbers use the same block of numbers, but each person has a unique combination or sequence. This is how the chemical bases in DNA work.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">DNA can duplicate or copy itself. This is why all cells in an individual have the same DNA.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So, the larger picture looks like this:<\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The strand in the DNA is made up of Letters G A T C. These letters combine in a set way to make words. The words combine to make sentences.
