elementor-size-default\">What is wind and how does it form?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-57a8bcd elementor-widget class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8216;Wind&#8217; is simply the flow of a huge amount of air, usually from a\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">high-pressure area<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0to a\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">low-pressure area.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">How are winds formed?<\/span><\/h3><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Typically, this begins with the sun\u2019s radiation, which is absorbed differently on the earth\u2019s surface. The earth&#8217;s surface is heated differently because of scenarios like cloud cover, mountains, valleys, water bodies, vegetation, and desert lands.<\/span><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As a result of this uneven heating, the earth&#8217;s surfaces will vary a lot in temperature. Air on surfaces with higher temperatures will then begin to rise because it is lighter (less dense). As the air rises, it creates low atmospheric pressure. Air on surfaces with cooler temperatures sinks (do not rise). The sinking creates higher atmospheric pressure. This behavior of warm gases or liquids moving upward and replaced by cooler particles is called <b>Convection<\/b>. The energy moving during convection is called\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">convectional current.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><i><b>Important<\/b><\/i>: <br \/><i>Hot air rises, and cool air sinks.
