elementor-size-default\">What are solids?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e25736d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" class=\"p1\">Solids are simply hard substances, and they are so because of how their molecules are packed together. Examples of solids include rocks, chalk, sugar, pieces of wood, plastic, steel, or a nail. They are all solids at room temperature. They can come in all sizes, shapes, and forms.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Think of ice cubes as an example. They are solids when frozen. They change into a liquid at room temperature.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">What about ashes? Is that solid too? Their particles are only able to vibrate in their position and cannot move from place to place.)<\/li><li class=\"li1\">The particles can vibrate in a fixed position.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\">Different solids behave slightly differently because they have different properties such as \u2018STRENGTH\u2019. This makes solids useful for different things. Look at a pencil eraser\u2014it is solid, but can slightly change shape because the strength of its bonds is slightly weaker than that in a piece of diamond.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-inner-column elementor-element
