class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Matter cannot be <b>created<\/b>\u00a0or\u00a0<b>destroyed<\/b>\u00a0but can change from one state to another with the application or removal of\u00a0<b>heat<\/b>\u00a0(temperature). Each time matter changes states, it is simply the movement of molecules in them speeding up or slowing down.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Let us use\u00a0<b>water<\/b>\u00a0as an example. At room temperature, water is a liquid, and the molecules in it move slowly. When you apply heat (or raise the temperature) the molecules move faster and faster. Water evaporates when it reaches boiling point.<br \/><\/b><\/p><p class=\"p1\">When you reduce the heat and bring down the temperature in the gas, the molecules in the\u00a0<b>vapor<\/b>\u00a0slow down and gradually turn back into a liquid.\u00a0<b>The scientific term for gas turning into a liquid as a result of heat loss is condensation (to condense).<\/b><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8963\" src=\"https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/frezing-and-condensation.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/frezing-and-condensation.jpg 600w, https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/frezing-and-condensation-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eschooltoday.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/frezing-and-condensation-150x85.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>If you take away all the heat (put it in a freezer), the molecules will be extremely slow and move very little. They will hold to each other, turning the water into a solid (ice). The point at which water turns into ice is called\u00a0<b>the \u2018Freezing point\u2019.<\/b><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px;\">Now, take the ice (solid) from the freezer, and place it at room temperature. Soon the ice begins to melt. The point at which solids melt into liquid is known as\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"letter-spacing: 0px;\">the melting
