How to avoid becoming overweight and staying healthy.

Not all overweight toddlers grow up to become obese adults. Many things can keep you from becoming overweight, and being healthy, fit and happy.

Speak to your doctor about your weight.

First of all, talk to your doctor and get help from a dietician. A dietician guides people on healthy eating habits and draws up a personalized food plan that meets the patient’s dietary restrictions, occupational constraints, fitness, and stress levels.

Start eating healthy foods.

Do not be in a rush to begin an aggressive diet. Growing bodies need a variety of foods to develop well. Instead, ask your mum to make changes to healthy eating. When hungry, grab some fresh fruit and vegetables first, rather than fatty food and snacks. Try not to snack when sitting around.

Do more exercise.

Make sure to participate in sports or exercise daily. Take part in school activities or after-school programs to develop interests and spend more time with other students while having fun. Consider joining a dance class or a cheerleading club.

Get enough sleep.

Get a good night’s sleep by avoiding late meals and staying active during the day to prepare for a restful night.

Be encouraged and determined.

Be determined to change and make the most of yourself. Every person has only one body, so try to look after yourself and feel good about it. Be conscious of your body and know your limits, especially when there is food around.

A calorie is a unit of energy. It is a way of describing how much energy your body could get from eating or drinking.
